Memory card specifications for digital cameras

The printer we will bring to Mexico accepts the following memory cards:
XD, MS/Duo, CF, SD, SD-HC.

Students should not attempt to use other cards as it may not only ruin the card but damage the printer.

Also, only the paper we specified should be used, as other paper may also damage the printer.  In addition, I have noticed that other papers used with HP printers result in prints that fade very quickly.

If the printer breaks down, students will be expected to have their prints made elsewhere.  The photo portion of the class is worth 35% of the grade (25 points in travelogue; 10 points in quizzes).

The Pyramid of the Magician, Uxmal

The temple at the top of the pyramid is an example of a technique the architect used to widen the walls of a building slightly as it rose in order to compensate for the effects of perspective.  The goal was to make the building look perfectly rectangular to someone viewing from ground level.

Much to do before we go!

Hello everyone - it was nice meeting everyone yesterday at the first class session.  I've added to the list of things to pack, and here are some other tasks to complete before we leave:

Double check your vaccination records and make sure your Tetanus Shot is up-to-date (it should be renewed every ten years).

It's a good idea to make a xerox copy of your passport and all credit/debit cards you are bringing, and to keep them in a separate place from the actual passport/cards.  You should also make a list of your prescriptions, or get a list (with prescription numbers) from your drugstore.

MONEY ISSUES:

We already mentioned that it's not wise to flash money, or to carry large quantities with you.  I keep the bulk of my money LOCKED in my suitcase in my room, and just bring along what I think I will need for the day.  If you're going to keep your money in a wallet, don't walk around with the wallet in your back pocket.  If you're putting it in a backpack or purse, don't put it in the outer pockets, and if walking in a crowd, keep the backpack/purse in front of you.  Don't give pickpockets an opportunity to pick on you!

If you have an account at PNC bank, you can arrange with them to buy pesos in advance.  Otherwise, you can bring cash and exchange it at a money exchange place (bank or airport).  By far, the easiest thing to do is to bring your credit/debit card and use it in the extremely convenient ATM machine located right around the corner from our hotel.

Most purchases you make will be in cash, as many restaurants, vendors, etc. don't take credit cards.  It's also worth saying that the less you use your credit card, the fewer opportunities there will be to have it misused!

FINALLY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, it is vitally important to call your bank and let them know you will be in Mexico and spending money there.  Otherwise, if you try to use your credit card on a purchase, or try to use the local ATM, your card WILL be denied.
